Next Powders have been reliably fast but admittedly not the best choice in old, dirty, or man-made snow.
Without the crutch of fluorocarbon additives, it is ever more apparent that glide waxes for the best speed are bounded by conditions such as snow age. The original Star Next powder glide waxes at times were astounding in their performance but it became apparent that the best performance was in new snow.
So Star reformulated the base ingredients and delivered these new Next Dark glide waxes.
These are very much intended for old, heavily transformed or man-made snow. A particularly good choice in abrasive and dirty snow.
The powdered waxes tend to be easier to apply with less waste compared to a block version glide wax. Also very nice is that the iron temperatures required aren't freakishly high.
Cold for snow temperature -6°...-12°C
Medium for snow temperature -3°...-8°C
Warm for snow temperature 0°...-5°C
